Still my favorite all-mode, all-band portable radio — this one just isn't getting air time, so it's off to a new home.
The radio
Lab599 Discovery TX-500: 160–6 m, all mode (SSB, CW, AM, FM and digital), up to 10 W out, in a CNC-milled aluminum enclosure built for field use. Real-time spectrum display, a strong receiver, and it sips current on receive (~100 mA) — made for SOTA, POTA and go-kit work. New stock has been scarce and priced well over $1,000 when it appears at all.
